Why Quantum Errors Happen
6 minLesson 1
Fault-tolerant computing starts by accepting that quantum errors are normal, frequent, and physical rather than rare software bugs.
Core concept
Decoherence, gate error, measurement error, and crosstalk all damage quantum information. Unlike classical bits, qubits cannot simply be copied for backup, so reliability must be engineered through encoded logical states.
Practice task
Open a noisy circuit example and list which error source would be visible in the histogram first: decoherence, gate error, measurement error, or crosstalk.
